About Me

I am a multi-disciplinary artist that has a wide spectrum of expertise in art, illustration, graphic design, sculpting, photography, story telling, music and dance.

Having studied in Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University Architectural Department, I have a background of both technical and artistic education. During my master degree in İstanbul Technical University Architectural Design Program, I spent a year abroad, namely in Lyon, to complete her research on semiotics of gender in architectural morphology. This year has gifted me with a lot of travelling across Europe, admiring architectural and artistic scenes, taking pictures, collecting stories and memories, improving her live sketching skills. In art, I mainly focus on watercolors, oil, oil pastels, ink and dry pastels. I developsher graphic design projects using mixed methods of tangible art work with digital softwares, which constitutes her signature style. In photography, I am more into candid street scenes while occasionally enjoys portraits and concept shooting. I write and illustrate fairy tales for adults. On the music corner, you can hear me in various projects. Originally a jazz singer, I also participates in ethnical or electronic pieces. I also do Lindy Hop and Solo Jazz.

It's all about communication.
And not just with the client...

There is something I have found out throughout my years of learning new disciplines, languages or materials;  working in different projects in various scales with different clients. It is that, every interaction, human or non-human, is all about communication and negotiation. When I am painting with watercolor, I know that I can not expect it to act like oil. The ideal thing to do is to listen and understand the space that circumstances allow me and what I can contribute to it with my abilities. It’s the same for my clients, the project requirements, the mediums etc. The best part about it is that with this approach, I learn so much from any project, big or small.

What it's like to work with me?

And seriously… Am I the luckiest to have worked with such great people?

"I don't know any other person in recent times who is so hungry for knowledge and experimentation. It takes both courage and madness to be creative and limitless in the face of changing and developing technology. I think very few people like Çisem can achieve this these days."
deniz mahır kartal - musıcıan/producer
“Çisem created the cover art for the album Divine and Divan for us, and she was fantastic to work with! Beyond her fantastic artistic abilities, she was very accommodating to our label’s requirements and ideas, she made herself available, even across time differences, to help us ensure we met our deadlines and nothing was ever too much to do. She was a delight to work with from the beginning to end of the project.”
